Those who have been baptized continue on the path of Christian Initiation through the Sacrament of Confirmation by which they receive the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
By this gift of the Holy Spirit, the faithful are more fully confirmed to Christ and are strengthened with the
power to bear witness to Christ for the building up of his Body in faith and charity.

Confirmation is administrated in our diocese by the Bishop or his representative.  The preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Catherine’s takes place in the 8th and 9th Grades.

Important to Note

We are implementing a new approach for our 2018-2019 Confirmation Program.  Detailed information on the new program will be available as they are finalized, but these are the basic changes:

  • Academic study and preparation for Confirmation will be the focus of those in the 8th Grade
  • The 9th Grade program will now focus on the “Service” aspect of the sacrament of Confirmation:  Less book/broad scope, more practical applications and specific activity.

Confirmation will be held on April 6, 2019 at 2:00 PM.  This is to reemphasize that Confirmation is NOT graduation.

We hope that when the formal classes end in March, the newly confirmed will continue to be active in the parish-- within the new Youth Group Ministry that we are offering beginning in the new school year.  Our Director of Faith Formation will be working with our new Youth Minister to integrate Confirmation/Social Justice/Youth Group into one group that will continue throughout the year.

Stay tuned for more information on our Confirmation Program and about Faith Formation at St. Catherine’s coming soon!
