new1 291x182Music is at the heart of our celebrations, one of the primary ways we worship and serve our Lord Jesus Christ.

Each year, our volunteer singers and professional core of cantors sing at nearly 300 services, including the celebrations of Christmas, Confirmation of our young adults, and the great Holy Week liturgies culminating in Easter, and on our concert series with orchestra.

Several choirs comprise a graded music program for those of all ages and abilities. See below for descriptions of each choir.

10:30 A.M. Sunday Choir
Our 10:30 A.M. Sunday Choir is a twenty voice adult choir which sings an impressive array of music from plain chant to baroque and classical works by Handel, Bach, Mozart and Haydn, as well as contemporary composers John Tavener, Stephen Paulus and Jonathan Dove. The choir sings a major anthem each Sunday, accompanied by piano, organ and guest instrumentalists. The choir rehearses immediately following the 10:30 a.m. Mass, from 11:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. Check our calendar for rehearsal schedule.

9:00 A.M. Sunday Contemporary Choir
Our 9:00 A.M. Sunday Choir, directed by Rita Lapcevic, sings contemporary music drawn primarily from the Gather hymnal, accompanied by piano and guitar. They rehearse on Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. immediately prior to Mass.

Festival Choir
Our Festival Choir, comprised of members of the congregation and the greater Greenwich community, often accompanied by instrumentalists, sing an outstanding series of concerts each year, including performances of Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Requiem, Rachmaninoff's Vespers, Vivaldi's Gloria and Bach's Brandenburg Concerti. In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the parish in 2013, the concert series presents the Grammy Award winning ensemble, Chanticleer. You may buy tickets, or even better, you ensure the maintenance and growth of the concert series by first joining Friends of St. Catherine Concert Series, and then receiving complimentary concert tickets according to your level of membership.
